Lost Your PAXI SMS or Parcel Details? What to Do Next

Lost your PAXI SMS or parcel details? See what to check and recover.

Losing the SMS that contains your parcel information can make it difficult to check the delivery status or prepare for collection.

You may also have deleted the conversation, changed your phone or received the parcel details through someone else.

This does not automatically mean that the shipment information is gone.

The sender, receipt, mobile backups or official support channels may still help you recover the details connected to the parcel.

Check Your Messages Again

Start by searching your entire SMS inbox rather than only recent conversations.

Try searching for terms such as:

  • PAXI;
  • Parcel;
  • Drop-off;
  • Collection;
  • OTP;
  • The sender’s name;
  • The approximate date the parcel was sent.

Also review:

  • Archived conversations;
  • Recently deleted messages;
  • Spam or blocked-message folders;
  • Notification history;
  • Screenshots;
  • Phone or cloud backups;
  • Messages received on an older phone.

Open the full conversation when you find it.

Different PAXI messages can contain different information, including the parcel number, movement updates and the collection OTP.

PAXI says senders and receivers receive SMS updates during the parcel journey.

Important messages include the drop-off confirmation, the arrival notification containing the collection OTP and the confirmation sent after collection.

Ask the Sender to Check Their Phone

The sender may have the most useful information because they arranged the shipment and may have received the original drop-off confirmation.

Ask them to look for:

  • The PAXI confirmation SMS;
  • The digital drop-off receipt;
  • The physical store receipt;
  • A screenshot of the parcel details;
  • The parcel number;
  • The sending and destination PAXI Points;
  • The receiver’s mobile number entered during the transaction.

Ask for a screenshot of the complete message instead of only a number.

This makes it easier to see whether the reference is a parcel number, store code or collection PIN.

PAXI describes the drop-off confirmation SMS as a message containing a summary of the captured parcel information.

Check the Receipt and Other Transaction Records

A physical receipt or saved transaction record may help identify the shipment.

Look through:

  • Store receipts;
  • Email confirmations;
  • Banking or payment records;
  • Screenshots sent between the sender and receiver;
  • Online parcel-registration details, when applicable.

A payment record alone may not contain the parcel number, but it can help establish the date and location of the transaction when official support needs to search for more information.

Do not confuse these references:

Parcel number → used to track the shipment
PAXI Point Code → identifies a sending or collection location
Collection OTP → used during parcel collection
Payment reference → identifies the payment transaction

The official tracking tool requires the parcel number found in the PAXI SMS.

Confirm Which Phone Number Was Used

Parcel messages are sent to the mobile numbers captured during the drop-off process.

Therefore, the SMS may have gone to a different number than expected.

Ask the sender to confirm:

  • The receiver’s number entered at the store;
  • The sender’s own registered number;
  • Whether any digit was entered incorrectly;
  • Whether an old number was used;
  • Whether another person’s number was provided.

PAXI says the receiver’s cellphone number is captured when the parcel is sent so that movement and arrival updates can be delivered by SMS.

When the wrong number was registered, only an official support channel can check whether the parcel details can be corrected or recovered.

What If You Lost the Collection OTP?

The collection OTP is different from the tracking number.

It is normally sent when the parcel arrives at the destination PAXI Point.

First check:

  • The latest PAXI SMS;
  • Recently deleted messages;
  • The number registered for the receiver;
  • Whether the parcel has actually arrived;
  • Whether the sender received a related update.

Do not share the OTP publicly. It forms part of the collection process.

When the parcel is confirmed as ready but the OTP is unavailable, contact PAXI through a current official channel before visiting the collection point.

PAXI presently lists website support, telephone assistance and WhatsApp on its contact page.

Information to Prepare for Official Support

When neither you nor the sender can find the parcel details, gather as much transaction information as possible.

Prepare:

  • Sender’s full name and mobile number;
  • Receiver’s full name and mobile number;
  • Approximate drop-off date;
  • Sending PAXI Point;
  • Destination PAXI Point;
  • Receipt or payment proof;
  • Parcel description;
  • Any remaining SMS or screenshot;
  • Expected delivery option, when known.

Avoid posting these details publicly.

Provide them only through a verified official support channel.

Before Requesting Help

Use this checklist:

  • I searched archived and deleted messages;
  • I checked screenshots and phone backups;
  • The sender checked their SMS and receipt;
  • We confirmed which phone numbers were registered;
  • I looked for the original drop-off confirmation;
  • I distinguished the parcel number from the collection OTP;
  • I gathered the transaction date and PAXI Point information.

Losing the original SMS does not necessarily prevent you from finding the parcel details.

Start with the sender and transaction records, then contact official support when the shipment still cannot be identified.
